The position of XHOSPIpro in hospital management
The software provides a powerful instrument for the optimization of product handling in hospitals. However, the advantages of XHOSPIpro can be realized in full extend only if the application of the software is integrated in the hospital management in a suitable manner
Before starting the work at the computer, investigation tasks have to be defined. Then the necessary data have to be gathered. To do so, the product life cycle has to be reconstructed from purchase to disposal in practice.
When analyses with the computer is done, the results have to be discussed and the necessary measures have to be taken to change the praxis in the hospital, that means to implement the new product or the new way of handling products. The detailed results provided by XHOSPIpro will considerably facilitate internal discussions and decisions about a certain product and its handling. Now it is known, what are the consequences of a certain way of handling a product with view to waste amounts, the consumption of cleaning agents or the working time. Now it is known, which savings are possible and how a process optimization or a product change influence the total costs of handling the product.
The employees in the hospital who are gathering data and working with the software, strongly depend on the given conditions in the certain hospital. One possible way to take advantage from XHOSPIpro in an efficient manner is the implementation of an XHOSPIpro working group in the hospital. This group should get a responsible chairman, a suitable bud-get and the clear support of the hospital management. The group should work in close tuning with the responsible hospital staff to find and realize optimization and improvement potentials. A core team may consist of three or four persons with different professional background (e.g. administration, technique, hygiene, environment). Mostly it is advantageous to have at least one person, who has a broad view on the reality in the hospital (e.g. hygiene staff or quality management staff). Due to the needs of their work they very often have close contacts to a lot of persons and know at least roughly about what happens in different departments.
Finally, the realization of the new product handling should be monitored and the employees who put the changes into reality should be informed about the results of their activities. A successful and efficient use of XHOSPIpro needs a clear support of the hospital management for the necessary work.
